Tainan City Is Home To Many Beautiful Temples
A former capital of the island in Imperial times, Tainan is full of historic buildings, including beautiful temples and parts of the successive sets of fortifications, including Chikan Tower(Providentia Fort) (赤嵌樓 普羅民遮城 應該是Provintia) and Anping Fort(Originally called Orange Fort and then Fort Zeelandia) (安平古堡 熱蘭遮城) , both built by the Dutch in the 17th century. The former has interesting stone carvings of animals (應該是在講那九隻贔屭) while the latter has wide views over the oceean and coastline. The Anping district is also well known for its pretty little streets with traditional small houses with symbols to ward off evil, and shrines.
The most famous of Tainan's multitude of temples is the first Confucian School/Temple, which was built in 1665. Although it has been enlarged and reconstructed several times over the last 350 years, the compound contains the most complete set of temple buildings and altars and associated buildings. Tseng Chen-Yang Mu (鄭成功墓 但Kang拼成Yang 而且應該是在說五妃廟吧 鄭成功沒有葬在市區) is worth a visit for its Ming Dynasty tombs.
Tainan Fu Cheng-Huang Miao, Hsien Cheng-Huang Miao and Anping Chen Cheng-Huang Miao are temples to the city god Chen-Huang (有那麼多城隍廟我怎麼都不知道?城隍廟應該只有一座 他要講得應該是默娘吧?大天后宮 鹿耳門天后宮 土城聖母廟是三座沒錯) , who meted out justice. All three temples are stunning. Other temples and shrines include Koxinga's Temple (延平郡王祠) .
Tainan is also renowned for its snack food and its night markets, and is sometimes known as the city of snacks (咳咳~我們是號稱美食之都 應該是Capital of snacks) , which are available both at the markets and from street vendors (這個叫路邊攤) . Specialities include pearl milk tea (珍珠奶茶) , shrimp rolls (蝦卷) , Dan Dan Noodles (擔仔麵) and coffin toast (棺材板).
Population:
758,000(2006)
When to go:
Any time of year
Don't Miss:
An organized trip to the mangrove reserves (紅樹林保護區) , the migrating ground of the rare black-faced spoonbill (黑面琵鷺棲息地) .
The 19th century Eternal Fortress (億載金城) situated on the coast
The night markets - there are around a dozen of these dotted all over the city.
Wares on offer include clothes, toys, food and souvenirs.
Some also offer live entertainment.
You should know:
A free tri-lingual map (English, Chinese and Japanese) is available at most railway stations.
這本書謬誤還不少 難怪已經被打到特價區了 不過還是感謝他對台南的抬愛~
